23 January 2006

At the January 30, 2006, Workshop, the Lisle Village Board will be reviewing the results of the Water Task Force report regarding water and sewer costs and problems incurred by the 400 plus home owners of the Lisle’s Oak View sub-division.  Although Oak View was built in the 1950’s and 1960’s, and is incorporated into the Village, it receives its water and sewer service from Illinois American Water (IAW), a private service provider, which unlike the rest of incorporated Lisle, receives its water and sewer via the Village system. In addition to disproportionate water and sewer costs, a rate 300% higher than that of other incorporated Lisle residents, communication with IAW and safety issues will also be considered.  The Task Force report can be viewed on the Village of Lisle web site.

If you think it is acceptable for Oak View residents to be treated differently than the other incorporated residents in Lisle, don’t attend.  If you think it is appropriate for Oak View property owners to pay 300% more for water and sewer than the rest of Lisle’s incorporated residents, just stay home.  If you think that just watching the meeting on Cable will suffice and will impact the thinking of the Village Board, I’m concerned for you.

If you are concerned about your home and your well being, now would be a very desirable time to attend a Village Board meeting.  If you have never attended a Village Board meeting because you saw no good reason, this would appear to qualify as a very good reason and be an excellent time to attend.  If you have never attended a Village Board meeting because you were just “too busy”, now would be that ideal opportunity to find the time and attend.  The Mayor and Trustees were elected to listen and respond to their constituents, but I don’t think the Board would respond to only five or ten residents in attendance at the Workshop quite the same way they would if ALL the residents of Oak View were present and voicing their concerns. It was the Task Force that compelled the Board to face this issue, but it is now up to the Oak View voter to insure its complete and reasonable review.  Those Lisle residents with comments and questions are urged to attend the January 30, Village Board Workshop at 7:30 pm in the Village Hall.  If you wish to be kept informed or assist in this effort, please contact the Oak View Community Association at:
