Oak View Community Association
The seed for Oak View Community Association was initially formed due to the excessive cost and problems presented to its’ residents by Illinois American Water (IAW). The initial questions about the inequities faced by the Oak View were raised in 2004 at the first Village sponsored Neighborhood Meeting held at Lisle Junior High School. Receiving basically non-responsive answers from the Board members present concerned citizens began learning about Oak View’s history and its relationship with Illinois American Water.
Early 2005 saw residents attending Village Board Meetings in an attempt to alert the Board to the problems encountered by the Oak View homeowner and requested their assistance in securing some relief. On March 7, 2005, the Village mailed a letter to all Oak View residents, basically saying they sympathized with their plight, but the “task for the Village is to assist the residents in establishing a better line of communication with Illinois American”. On March 21,2005 concerned residents formally requested that the Village establish a Task Force to collect information to define and explore potential options to address water and sewer servicing by IAW vice the Village. On May 2, 2005, resolution Number 2005-2598 was submitted and approved by the Village Board creating a fact-finding Task Force to investigate and study the currently established service arrangement between Oak View residents and IAW. May 5, 2005 witnessed the their first meeting with the following members present:
Mayor Broda Ex officio
Trustee Brondyke Chairperson
Janeen Brzeczek
Dan Grecco
Paul Johnson
Bob Pacente
Elizabeth Peery
Susan Srail
Ed Staqnley
Jim Strnad
Subsequent to the submission of the final Task Force Report on January 6, 2006 work began on the creation of the Oak View Community Association (OVCA). It was apparent that to successfully present the needs and problems to the Village Board, a unified voice was mandatory. In February 2006, a not for profit group, The Oak View Community Association was officially chartered. Unfortunately the existence of the OVCA was short lived due to a gross mismanagement and personality conflicts.
It is my hope that we, the residents of Oak View can maintain our alliance and continue to speak with one voice to insure we are treated the same as other sections of Lisle.
